OPEN SPACES

The modern architect strives to blend the openness of the outdoors with the environmentally protected building interior. In recent years the technological thrust for minimalist glass facades has provided the design freedom to create the illusion of open spaces.

SPIDERS

With the Sky-Hook system the transparent membrane is freed from the earthbound and levitated skywards.

A constant throughout the Sky-Hook range of suspended all-glass assemblies is the spider. This fitting made from grade 316 stainless steel forms the minimalist connection between the glass and the  support structure.  

In most cases the glass is attached to the  spider with cleverly devised  articulated bolt  arrangement. This allows deflection of the glass without inducing additional stress at  the glass surface around the bolt-hole.

GLASS PIN

The main glass façade is suspended from a beam or slab with concealed clamps. Lateral support is provided by tempered glass fins in various designs.

The glass fins are independently clamped to the support structure and con consist several pieces held together with stainless steel splice plates.

CABLE STRUCTURE

A cable-truss is formed to provide restriction against lateral movement with two single-strand stainless steel pre-tensioned cables tied to the building  structure via turnbuckles and fork ends.

TENSION ROD

The Tension Rod system is used in a vertical  plane, utilising stainless steel tension fitments, cable cross-bracing and propriety clamps.

A distinctive architectural effect is achieved relying on tensioning between the overhead beam and floor slab.

REFINED WELDED TRUSSES

At design stage and working with the Architectural design team a wide range of possibilities are available to achieve the desired aesthetics of a structural system. Stainless or coated mild steel truss systems comprising many shapes can be employed.
